Sitting between 164m and 169m above sea level, many homes on the Plateau benefit from great views of the ocean (to the east) and Pittwater (to the west). These vistas, combined with its relative anonymity, make the Plateau uniquely appealing to higher profile individuals, as evidenced by the number of well-known sports and entertainment personalities who own property in the area.

Once considered a steppingstone toward the more sought after (and expensive!) neighbouring suburbs, Bilgola has rapidly become a destination in its own right, particularly for young families. The tight-knit community is centred around the local primary school, which is so well regarded that it creates competition for property in the catchment area.
